Does RedeemOS track which parents opened the email?

Yes. RedeemOS tracks email open rates and click rates for bulk email campaigns sent through the platform. Administrators can see what percentage of the audience opened the email, providing insight into parent engagement with school communications. Individual delivery status (delivered, bounced) is also tracked.

Can the school send email from its own domain name (e.g., info@ourschool.edu.gh)?

Yes. Schools can configure a custom SMTP server or connect to an email service provider (such as SendGrid or Mailgun) to send emails from their own domain. This requires the school to have an email hosting service and valid SMTP credentials, which are entered in the Communication settings.

What happens if a parent's email address bounces?

RedeemOS receives bounce notifications from the email delivery service and flags the parent's email address as invalid in the system. The administrator is notified of the bounce and can update the email address from the parent's contact record. Subsequent emails are not sent to bounced addresses until a valid address is provided.

Can the school send both email and SMS for the same event?

Yes. For critical events such as report card publication or examination results, schools can configure RedeemOS to send both an SMS notification and an email simultaneously — the SMS alerts parents immediately while the email provides the detailed document or content. Each channel can be independently enabled or disabled per event type.

Email notifications provide schools with a rich, document-capable communication channel for parents and staff who have email addresses. Unlike SMS, email supports attachments — allowing schools to deliver PDF report cards, detailed examination result summaries, fee statements with line-item breakdowns, and formatted newsletters in a single message. RedeemOS integrates with email delivery services to send transactional emails (triggered by specific events) and bulk email campaigns (scheduled announcements). Emails sent through RedeemOS carry the school's name and branding, and recipients can download attached documents directly from their inbox without logging into the Parent Portal.

How It Works
