Student Report Card Template

A student report card is the official term-end document communicated to parents showing a student's academic performance across all subjects, attendance, and teacher remarks. It is one of the most impactful school-to-parent communication touchpoints of the year. A well-designed report card builds parent confidence, motivates students, and gives teachers a structured format for providing constructive feedback.

When to use: Issue at the end of every term, after all subject marks have been verified and teacher remarks have been reviewed by the class teacher or head of department.

Best Practices

Always include the date of resumption on the report card. Parents read report cards at term end — it is the perfect moment to communicate when the next term begins and what fees are due.

Subject teacher remarks must be specific, not generic. "Good" or "Needs improvement" provide no actionable feedback. A remark like "Excellent at comprehension; spelling accuracy below class average — practice 10 words daily" is far more useful.

Use a consistent grading scale across all subjects and display the grading key on the report card itself. Parents should not need a separate document to understand what "B2" means.

In RedeemOS, report cards are generated automatically from subject marks entered by teachers throughout the term — no manual compilation, no transcription errors. AI-assisted remarks are suggested based on the student's score patterns.

Distribute report cards digitally via the Parent Portal and SMS notification. Paper report cards are frequently lost, shared incompletely, or never seen by the second parent. Digital delivery ensures all registered guardians receive the report simultaneously.
